Meet Guzheng Artist & Innovator Qing Du ​


​Deeply rooted in a 2,500-year tradition yet boldly innovative, Qing Du is a guzheng artist dedicated to exploring the full spectrum of her instrument’s voice—from its ancient heritage to its contemporary possibilities.

With nearly two decades of experience, she has performed across international stages in the UK, Europe, China, and beyond, and serves as an external examiner for the University of Cambridge.

Her artistic journey moves between international stages and cross-genre collaborations—from a residency at the World Expo in Dubai to performing with Gorillaz in London.


Rooted in tradition, Qing Du brings the guzheng into dialogue with the world-creating music that feels both unfamiliar and instantly understood across cultures. 

This philosophy underpins all of her work. Through performance and collaboration, Qing explores the meeting point between tradition and contemporary expression, shaping new musical contexts for the guzheng.
