Meet Chinese Guzheng Artist Qing Du ​

Rooted in a 2,500-year-old Chinese musical tradition, Qing Du explores how the guzheng can move naturally between traditional repertoire, contemporary music, and collaboration across different musical cultures.

With nearly two decades of experience, she has performed across international stages in the UK, Europe, China, and beyond, including projects ranging from the World Expo in Dubai to collaborations with Gorillaz in London. She also serves as an external examiner for the University of Cambridge. 

Following her performances with Gorillaz in London, The Guardian described Qing Du as “the guzheng virtuoso Qing Du” in its review of the band’s 25th anniversary concerts.


Rooted in Chinese tradition, Qing Du brings the guzheng into dialogue with the world. Shaped by Chinese musical heritage and Asian sonic textures, her music often feels both unfamiliar and instantly understood across cultures.


Through performance, teaching, and collaboration, Qing explores how ancient Chinese sound can continue to resonate across different cultures, musical settings and audiences around the world.
